The 12th century Casteldarne Castle stands in the eponymous village on the left riverbank of the Rienza stream. Over time, this historic monument, which had been in the hands of the noble family of the Lords of Künigl, was extended and renovated before being sold in 2010.
Casteldarne Castle's architecture is particularly worth mentioning, as it consists of two distinct parts. To the south, there is the historic and ancient part of the castle which has never been restored or extended, whereas the Baroque eastern section was renovated in 1732.
The entrance to the castle is located in its historic section. Once in the courtyard, you can admire a true highlight: the inner courtyard amazes visitors with its granite columns, that support its elegant round arches. Today, the castle is a private property and is not open to the public.
