The 12th century Casteldarne Castle stands in the eponymous village on the left riverbank of the Rienza stream. Over time, this historic monument, which had been in the hands of the Lords of Künigl, was extended and renovated before being sold in 2010.
Casteldarne Castle is composed of two distinct parts and its architecture is very interesting. Unlike the Baroque building in the east, which was renovated in 1732, the southern and most ancient part of the castle was never renovated nor enlargened over the centuries.
The entrance to the castle is located in its historic section. Once in the courtyard, you can admire a true highlight: the inner courtyard amazes visitors with its granite columns that support its elegant round arches. Today, the castle is in private hands and therefore closed to the public.
