The village of Campo Tures in the Valli di Tures and Aurina is overlooked by Castel Tures
The municipality of Campo di Tures with its 4,900 inhabitants extends in a valley basin on a surface of 164 sq km between the villages of Molini and Lutago. It includes the hamlets of Caminata di Tures, Molini di Tures, Riva di Tures, Acereto and Campo Tures. Above the village rises Castel Tures, one of the most impressive castles of South Tyrol. The Lords of Tures who lived in this castle for a long time, belonged to one of the most renowned noble families of Tyrol.
Campo Tures is embedded in the wonderful landscape of the Valli di Tures and Aurina, which, thanks to their 80 peaks above 3,000 m, offers a wide range of leisure activities. We highly recommend visiting Castel Tures and the Vedrette di Ries - Aurina visitor centre and undertaking hikes to the Riva waterfalls and to the natural lake of Riva di Tures. The entire area is a true paradise for mountain lovers. Hans Kammerlander, a famous alpinist, was born in Campo Tures.
Every Tuesday in July and August stalls selling delicious local dishes are set up in the roads of Tures. A rich entertainment programme awaits you as well. The event "Tauferer Straßenküche" is a highlight for families.
