Campo di Tures with its almost 2,000 inhabitants is the main village of the eponymous municipality. The village is situated in the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina nature park, a protected area at 864 m a.s.l. The visitor centre of the nature park in Campo di Tures is dedicated to the aforementioned protected area and to the limits of nature and humans.
Another cultural attraction is Castel Tures, one of the most impressive monuments of South Tyrol. The Lords of Tures who belonged to one of the most renowned noble families of Tyrol, lived in this castle until the 13th century. Today the castle is in the hands of the "Südtiroler Burgeninstitut" which organises interesting attractions, including special exhibitions and ghost evenings for children. The most impressive rooms of the castle are the Prince's room, the Knight's hall, the court room and the prison in the basement. The Neumelans residence with its century-long history can be visited only from the outside.
In Campo Tures you will enjoy nature to the fullest. We recommend visiting the Riva waterfalls which are easily accessible via a path from the centre of the locality. In summer you can have a refreshing swim in the natural lake of Campo Tures.
Winter sports lovers should try the ski slopes of the Klausberg and Speikboden skiing areas in the vicinity and the pistes of the Plan de Corones. Events you shouldn't miss are the handicraft market, the cheese festival and the event "Cucina sotto le stelle".
