This relaxing winter hike leads through the wonderful winter landscape of the Valle dei Dossi near Riva di Tures

Today the temperatures are still very low in Riva di Tures but fortunately the sun is already rising behind the Collalto and Collaspro peaks. We cross the village of Riva di Tures and park directly at the Valle dei Dossi car park, the starting point of our hike through the valle dei Dossi and the eponymous mountain hut. After a few metres of walking, we spot a signpost which tells us that we are walking through the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina nature park. Despite the freezing cold, the small Rio Dossi brook, which accompanies us during the entire hike, is actually not frozen.
As the path to malga dei Dossi is also used as a sledge run, it is well-prepared and this is why we don't need special equipment for this hike. From here we climb a slight ascent along a forest path. Soon we reach a small plain in the valley and admire the magnificent view of the snowy mountain peaks around us.
Now we are about to tackle the final ascent to malga dei Dossi at 1,922 m a.s.l. which we can already recognise after an hour's walk and some bends. As soon as we arrive at the malga we have a warm drink. The hut is open during the winter months and features a sledge rental. The sledges can be left at the sledge deposit at the Valle dei Dossi car park where we parked our car.
