Winter path and Moarhofalm sledge run

The family walk on a toboggan run takes us in the low mountain range of the Val Pusteria above Corti and Chienes.

Even if the weather is not too good down in the valley today, we make a trip to the low mountains of the Val Pusteria. We go to Chienes in Val Pusteria, where we take the road to Issengo. This is where we turn left to Corti, after the Lärchenhof farm we take the narrow mountain road until we reach the "Gelenke" parking space at 1,591 m a.s.l.

From this point we proceed on foot, following the signpost "Moarhofalm", marked 65 (Murmeltierweg, Marmot Path). There is also a shorter trail across the forest, signposted M65. Across the ploughed and snow-covered forested path, we overcome the needle forest. After four hairpin bands, the forest becomes less dense and provides a view of the Braies and Sesto Dolomites. Today, however, the view is not too good, but also the fog is quite fascinating.

Almost flat along the slope, we reach the Moarhofalm mountain hut at 1,833 m a.s.l., which is open until late winter, and also in summer months. After a well-deserved lunch, we decide to do the return on the sledge. By the way, you can rent toboggans also at the mountain hut!
