Winter hike to the Sennes mountain hut

The Sennes mountain hut (Ütia Senes) is located on the same-named upland above San Vigilio di Marebbe

Our winter hike follows the classical route across the Fodara Vedla alpine village: starting point of our winter hike is the Pederü mountain hut in the Valle di Tamores (parking space, bus service, end of the cross country ski tracks). We follow the path n° 7, the former military road, which climbs up the steep hill. Up, the path proceeds through a little valley until the Fodara Vedla mountain hut and the picturesque village of alpine chalets.

A unique spot in unspoiled nature due to the fact that the mountain huts are not managed in winter, only snowy landscape and the Dolomites. We carry on walking along the path n° 7 (Alta Via of the Dolomites n° 1) towards the Sennes mountain hut across the eponymous upland and enjoy a fantastic view on the peaks of the Croda del Becco, Croda Rossa, Monte Cristallo and on the Fanes Group. The Sennes hut is also open in winter and we really look forward to our lunch.

Our way back proceeds again along the path n° 7, but we shorten it a bit as we take the version along the path 7A. The Sennes high plateau located at about 2,000 m a.s.l. in the heart of the Dolomites and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park enchants its visitors also in winter.
