Lutago is situated at the entrance to the Valle Aurina at the foot of the Sasso Nero (3,368 m a.s.l.)
Lutago, the first village of the Valle Aurina, is embedded among the wonderful peaks of the Zillertal Alps. The area is overlooked by 14 peaks above 3,000 m a.s.l., including the Cima di Campo and Sasso Nero (3,368 m a.s.l.), the local mountain of Lutago, as well as a well-known hiking destination.
In the valley lie different refreshment points and shops. The riding stable in Lutago offers horse riding excursions and trekkings all year round.
Winter sports lovers will definitely enjoy the perfectly-prepared ski slopes of the Klausberg and Speikboden skiing areas. In summer, adventure seekers should try rafting on the Rio Aurino. If you prefer more relaxing activities, you can visit the Maranatha crib museum in the centre of Lutago where you will discover everything about the art of wood carving and admire handmade products.
The parish church stands on a hill accessible by a long staircase. Vinzenz Oberhollenzer, an inhabitant of this village, published several documents on both his home village and the valley.
