Winter hike through snowy landscapes from Rio Bianco in the Valle Aurina to the Innerhofer, Marxegger and Pircher huts
Image gallery: Winter path and Tristenbach sledge run
The village of Rio Bianco lies at the Alpine Divide at the foot of the Zillertal Alps in a side valley of the Valle Aurina
Initially the path ascends to the flat meadow of the Innerhofer hut in hairpin bends. Then we have to tackle a slight descent followed by the last ascent to the Marxegger and Pircher (temporarily closed) huts in the Wurmtal valley.
The 3.5 km long climb requires 90 minutes of relaxing walking to be completed. At the huts we taste the delicious local food with the sunrays on our faces in a stunning mountain landscape. You can either descend by sledge or foot by retracing your steps or by following path no. 25A. Sledges can be rented at the mountain huts.
