A family-friendly walk with a descent by sledge above Corti and Chienes

Even if the weather is not really good today we decide to undertake a hike in the low mountain range of the Val Pusteria. We drive to Chienes where we continue to Issengo and after the Gasthof Lärchenhof restaurant we turn right and follow the narrow Höfestraße to the "Gelenke" car park at 1,591 m a.s.l.
Here we take a large forest path (signpost "Moarhofalm") and follow path no. 65 (Murmeltierweg). It is possible to take a shortcut through the forest, signposted as (M65). We walk uphill along a slightly steep hill through the coniferous forest. After four hairpin bends the forest opens up and delights us with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountain world, ranging from the Braies Dolomites to the Sesto Dolomites. Unfortunately today the fog blocks our view but we have to admit that the atmosphere it gives to the landscape is fascinating.
After an almost flat section we reach the malga "Moarhofalm" at 1,833 m a.s.l. which is open until late winter. Besides being a mountain inn, this hut is equipped with a sledge rental service.
