In winter the hiking path to the rustic Malga Kradorfer mountain hut (1,704 m a.s.l.) at the end of the Val Casies valley turns into a popular sledge run, which is also suitable for beginners

We leave our car at the last car park of the Val Casies and follow the same forest road we will descend by sledge later on. We continue following the signpost no. 49 and ascend along the slopes of the forests and meadows right of the Rio Casies. The ascent is easy. After slightly more than an hour of walking, soon after the Messnerhütte hut (already in the area of malga Pidig, another refreshment point) we arrive at the bridge leading to malga Kradorferhütte to the right.
We stop for a break in the warm hut before sledging back down to the valley. The "Pidigalm" sledge run does not present technical difficulties and takes us back to our starting point in no time. This easy and little challenging hike rewards us with stunning natural landscape and is suitable for families and sledders alike.
