The impressive monument of Castel San Michele stands in the immediate vicinity of Palù
Palù at 910 m a.s.l. borders the villages of San Lorenzo in the south and Santo Stefano in the west. The village is home to 40 people. Near the locality rises Castel San Michele, one of the most beautiful and important castles of the municipality. The fortress was built in 1091 and housed the court where the judges of St. Michelsburg worked. In 1678 both the monument and the court were acquired by the Künigl von Ehrenburg.
Like many other villages of the municipality of S. Lorenzo, the village of Palù boasts a chapel dedicated to St. Mary as well. This beautifully restored monument was built in 1721 following a promise. the Proslhof farm in Palù is the birthplace of Jakob Huter who gave his name to the Hutterites.
The via crucis of Maria Sares takes you to the popular pilgrimage church. Other sought-after hiking destinations in the surroundings are the Moosener Kaser and S. Stefano.
