Palù

A little distance from Palù, there is the impressive fortress of Castel San Michele

Palù is located in the south of San Lorenzo di Sebato and in the west of Santo Stefano, at 910 m a.s.l., and has got 40 inhabitants. Only a stone's throw from Palù, there is one of the most impressive buildings of the market town, that is to say Castel San Michele. Constructed in 1091, it is one of the most impressive castles of the entire valley. This is where the judges of Castel San Michele acted. In 1678 the castle including the court passed into the hands of the lords Künigl von Ehrenburg.

Like many other villages that belong to San Lorenzo di Sebato, also Palù boasts a little chapel, which was constructed in 1721 and restored in the course of time. By the way, at the Proslhof in Moso, Jakob Huter was born, who was name-giving for the Hutterites.

Only a little distance from Palù, there is the Via Crucis of Sares, taking to the homonymous pilgrimage church. Otherwise you can walk to the Moosener Kaser or to Santo Stefano.
