A remarkable archaeological site is located in the little village of Campolino

Together with Fassine, Campolino is located along the orographic right Rienza riverside, above Castelbadia in the lower mountain range of the Val Pusteria. Campolino has got some 40 inhabitants and rises at 961 m a.s.l. At the entrance of the village, there is a little chapel dedicated to S. Maria, while in the west of the village, there is the so-called Stadlerhof chapel.

The so-called Burgkofel of Campolino is by the way a famous archaeological site. In 1939/40 in this place a well-preserved belt plaque was found accidentally, which on one side shows two harts, while the rear side is adored with Raetic carvings. Today this belt is preserved in the city of Bolzano.

From Campolino you can make a walk to Falzes, take the trail number 17. Also the archaeological hiking trail takes its course from Campolino and Fassine, taking you back to the period of the Romans.
