Campolino features an interesting archaeological site

The hamlets of Fassine, Castelbadia and Campolino are situated on the right bank of the Rienza River, slightly above Castelbadia. Campolino has 40 inhabitants and lies at 961 m a.s.l. The St. Mary chapel at the entrance of the village and the chapel near the Stadler farm are worth a visit.
A well-preserved belt buckle was found between 1939 and 1940 in the archaeological site on the Burgkofel hill near Campolino. The front side of the buckle shows two deer, whereas the rear side is decorated with Rhaetian incisions. This precious object is now exhibited in the city museum of Bolzano.
We recommend relaxing walks and hikes along the hiking path no. 17 to Falzes. The archaeological hiking path from Campolino to Fassine is dedicated to the Roman settlements of this area.
