Onies has 270 inhabitants and lies at 1,144 a.s.l. This formerly autonomous municipality became a hamlet of the municipality of S. Lorenzo in 1928.
Onies is easily accessible via a well-maintained road. The highlights of the village are definitely the restored St. Jacob church and the Aster Stöckl, a shrine consecrated to Our Lady of the Snows.
We highly recommend a hiking tour along the Anton Schwingshackl path starting from Onies. This route takes you to the malghe of Rina and the forcella of Luson before returning to Onies via the meadows of the Wieseralm. The path can be completed in about 5 hours.
