The small village of Floronzo at 800 m a.s.l. has about 190 inhabitants. It extends on the left bank of the Rienza river near the drainage basin formed by Rio Gadera and the Rienza.
In 1636 Floronzo was hit by the Great Plague and the inhabitants of the village built a church hoping that the epidemic would end soon. The pointed arch portal was dated 1680, whereas the tower of this Baroque church was added in 1720. The Klosterwald forest covering the Pflaurenzer Köpfl hill was once in the hands of the opposite Castelbadia monastery. We highly recommend a walk along the circular Klosterwald itinerary. Along this path you can admire the beautiful Klosterwald chapel dedicated to the fallen of 1809 and 1813.
The main village of the municipality of S. Lorenzo, as well as the Maria Sares sanctuary, a pilgrimage site, are easily accessible on foot.
