The Zettersfeld skiing and hiking area is easily accessible from Lienz by cable car. At the mountain station starts the hiking itinerary to the impressive Neualpl lakes at the foot of Monte Schleinitz (2,904 m a.s.l.) in the Schober group. The latter is part of the Alti Tauri located in the eponymous national park.
The Neualpl lakes comprise two large and several smaller lakes. The Nussdorfer See with its small island and the Thurner See with its steep rocky shores are the most well-known lakes. The Alkuser See (1,432 m a.s.l.) and the Trelebitschsee (2,336 m a.s.l.) are two nearby lakes you should not miss.
