San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo’s historic centre is directly connected to the Val Pusteria cycle path

San Lorenzo, the main village of the eponymous municipality, lies at 810 m a.s.l. and has 960 inhabitants. The locality is situated in a quiet position, far away from the traffic. The railway station of San Lorenzo allows direct access to the Val Pusteria railway line. The Val Pusteria cycle path crosses the village centre where many cyclists stop for a delicious ice cream in the sun.

The parish church consecrated to St. Lawrence is worth a visit. Its irregular structure is the result of the several modifications it underwent between the 13th and 16th century. Inside the church you can admire an artwork by Michael Pacher (Madonna col Bambino).

The Mansio Sebatum museum retraces the history of the settlements of the Val Pusteria. The past of the valley is shown in various installations set up on three floors. Here, you can also discover the Roman station Mansio Sebatum.

In San Lorenzo, sports enthusiasts can have fun playing football, basketball, badminton, handball and many other sports. While children are spending their time on the playground, adults play tennis on the nearby tennis courts. In winter some ice rinks are set up in the village.

San Lorenzo also boasts some of the most beautiful shooting galleries of South Tyrol.
