The Val Pusteria is a perfect place for ski mountaineerers

The most well-known areas for this sport are the Val Pusteria in South Tyrol, the Valle Aurina, the Valle di Casies, the Alta Pusteria and the Valle di Braies in the eponymous Dolomites. In East Tyrol you can practise this wonderful sport in the Villgratental and in the Tiroler Gailtal/Lesachtal.
Before undertaking a mountain tour we highly recommend checking the weather forecast and the local snow report. Basic equipment includes enough provisions, an avalanche transceiver, a shovel, a probe, a mobile phone, a first-aid box and a geographical map of the area. If you lack mountain experience you should do these tours with an experienced mountain guide.
