Ski tour to the Monte di Dentro

The 2,725 m high Monte di Dentro is a worthwhile destination for those who love ski touring, located at the border to East Tyrol

Our ski tour starts at the Lake Anterselva, which is traversed on skis. At its eastern lakeside, the ascent to Passo Stalle starts. Cutting the toboggan run across the forest, time and again we cut this path and finally reach the mountain pass (2,025 m a.s.l.) between South Tyrol and East Tyrol.

From here we continue towards southeast into the Weissenbachtal valley. First we walk along the river gorge into a hollow, then we walk the way up, until we reach the steep slope on our right, leading to the summit.

Finally, after a long zigzag walk, we reach the highest point of the Monte di Dentro (2,725 m). You can take the ascent route back or - as an alternative - ski down the steep slopes towards the Agstal valley, leading to Passo Stalle.

Please note: not difficult as far as skiing and alpine techniques are concerned, but requires absolutely secure conditions. Also very popular in late spring when the road to Passo Stalle reopens (shorter tour, saving 400 m of altitude difference). Great view of the Dolomites, Mt Collaspro and Mt Collalto as well as the mountains of East Tyrol. The Monte di Dentro can also be scaled from the Casies valley in South Tyrol or the rear Defereggen valley in East Tyrol.
