This demanding mountain bike tour takes us from Lienz in East Tyrol to lake Laserzsee at 2,260 m a.s.l

We start in the village centre of Lienz and cycle past Tristach (650 m a.s.l.) to the junction of the Dolomitenstraße (signposts "Tristacher See”). The route with an average elevation gain of 16% leads up to the Dolomitenhütte hut at 1,620 m a.s.l. The asphalt road is easily manageable, however, the constant ascent is quite challenging and requires good physical fitness.
After a delicious lunch at the hut we follow the gravel path to the Karlsbader Hütte hut. We cross the alpine landscape and the forest limit to reach the heart of the Lienz Dolomites. The beautiful mountain hut at 2,260 m a.s.l. is only a stone's throw from the enchanting lake Laserzsee. The almost unspoilt nature and the panoramic view of the High Tauern reward us for our efforts.
We return to the valley along the same road. The 12-km long descent with a drop of 16% can be completed without any difficulties.
