Terento

Attractions such as the earth pillars and great excursion destinations such as the Malga Pertinger make Terento a charming holiday destination

As the village with the most hours of sun, Terento is considered the “sun village“. The municipality is located at 1,210 m a.s.l. along the Strada del Sole of the Pusteria valley. The toponym derives from the term “torrentum“, which means mountain torrent. Again this refers to the first settlements in this area, dating back to the 10th century. In other words, always have people appreciated the mild climate in the surroundings of this place.

Terento and its numerous component localities Marga, Talson, Sonnenberg, Monte Neve, Ast, Pein and Pichlern is a paradise for hikers in summer and autumn. A family walk to the Astnerbergalm pasture, a walk to the Nature and Culture trail, a tour to the Rif. Lago di Pausa or a challenging mountain tour to the Cima di Terento or Monte Gruppa. Terento offers something for every taste, both for those who love cosy walks and experienced alpinists. By the way, in the centre of the village there are a miniature golf course, tennis courts, a football field and horse riding stable.

From a culinary viewpoint we would like to mention the series of events "s'Terner Schmelzpfandl", as part oft this, the gastronomic weeks "Terner Bauernkuchl" are organised. This event takes you on a journey back in time and makes you experience the culinary highlights of the times of our grandparents.

Also in winter Terento is worth a visit: directly in the centre of the village, there is a ski lift for beginners, while more experienced skiers might prefer to ski on the well-groomed slopes of the nearby Plan de Corones. What you also don't have to miss is tobogganing at the Malga Pertinger. The little ones, however, prefer playing at the snow hill in the centre. Cross-country skiing can also be exercised in Terento.

Our tip: Particularly recommendable is a walk along the Sentiero dei Molini, starting in the centre of Terento and taking to the earth pillars. Absolutely worth seeing!
