The village of Rodengo is overlooked by the Rodengo Castle above the Rienza gorge. The village of
Villa, the administrative centre of the municipality, lies near Rodengo. The municipality includes the hamlets of Nauders, Chivo and San Paolo extending at an altitude between 800 and 1,000 m a.s.l. This 12th century fortress and former jurisdictional seat can now be visited during a guided tour.
Rodengo also includes the hamlets of Spissa, Frella and Montano, situated on a slope. Higher on the same hill lies malga Rodengo with an extensive alpine pasture characterised by meadows covered with alpine flowers and herbs. From here, you can enjoy a stunning view of the Dolomite peaks and the Alpine divide and stop for a nourishing meal in the numerous mountain huts.
