The village of San Benedetto with its 250 inhabitants is situated along the road between Rio di Pusteria and the Alpe di Rodengo. The locality is characterised by ancient, listed farms. The St. Benedict church in the centre was erected in the 15th century and rebuilt in the 17th century.

Thanks to its ideal position, San Benedetto in the vicinity of Rodengo is a sought-after destination for MTB tours to the malga di Rodengo and the Val Pusteria. The village of Rio di Pusteria is connected to the Pusterbike cycle path and to the cycle path network of South Tyrol. On the opposite valley side extends the hiking and skiing area Gitschberg-Jochtal. Villa, the administrative centre of the municipality, is only 1 km from San Benedetto and is therefore easily accessible on foot.
