Castel Rodengo, an impressive castle standing on a slope above the Rienza gorge, was built by Friedrich von Rodank in the 12th century. The well-known fresco cycle of Iwein, which is the most ancient wall painting of the German-speaking area, was discovered in 1972. According to legends, the so-called "Lauterfresser" was imprisoned in this castle. It can be visited during guided tours.
On a slope in the proximity of the castle stands the Assumption of Mary church from the 12th century. The current building dates back to around 1500. For centuries this sacral monument was the parish church of an area extending to Terento.
Villa is a quiet village far away from the traffic, however, it is still easily accessible by car and with public transport means. The village is a stone's throw from the other hamlets of the municipality, the villages of the Val Pusteria and the city of Bressanone.
