Our starting point is the car park in the Val Vena in Terento at 1,412 m a.s.l. We get on our skis and enter the valley along a forest path following the signposts to the Lago di Pausa/Tiefrastenhütte hut. We ski past malga Astnerbergalm and the valley station of the material cableway of the Lago di Pausa hut and ascend some hairpin bends before arriving at the forest edge. Above the waterfall we turn left and proceed towards the Lago di Pausa hut (Risk of avalanches!). The peak is already visible from here.

We continue along the valley floor and reach the Lago di Pausa hut at 2,312 m a.s.l. right after having ascended a steep slope. Following a break we proceed along the right lakeshore to the end of the lake. Alternatively you can also cross the lake. We continue uphill along steeper slopes until we arrive at a small basin right below the peak. Now we need to tackle some hairpin bends running along a steep final slope below the peak (crampons are recommended in case of ice!). We walk past the summit rock and arrive at the ridge where we leave our skis at the ski deposit.

From here on we need to walk. Initially we head towards the eastern ridge and then to the peak which is characterised by a rock pyramid. From the summit at 2,809 m a.s.l. we enjoy a wonderful view ranging from the Venediger and Ortles-Cevedale groups to the Zillertal Alps and the Dolomites on sunny days. For our return we retrace our steps.

Please note: this tour should be undertaken only in ideal conditions. In spring it is highly recommended to start this adventure early in the morning as the slopes are very exposed to the sun.
