Rasun Anterselva is situated in the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina nature park
Rasun Anterselva at 926 m a.s.l. is embedded in the stunning Vedrette di Ries-Aurina nature park near the lake of Anterselva. The municipal area extends across the northern side valley of the Val Pusteria from an altitude of 926 m a.s.l. until the Collalto at 3,471 m a.s.l., the highest summit of the Vedrette di Ries group and is delimited by the passo Stalle. Rasun Anterselva has around 2,800 inhabitants and is composed of the hamlets of Nove Case, Rasun di Sotto, Rasun di Sopra, Anterselva di Sotto, Anterselva di Mezzo and Anterselva di Sopra.
Almost the entire valley is located in the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina nature park. The park is surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Vedrette di Ries range with the impressive Collalto and Collaspro peaks. The fascinating landscape and the quite low temperature and fresh air attract numerous visitors both in summer and winter. In winter you can have fun at the biathlon centre of Anterselva where several international biathlon competitions have been held. Wilfried Pallhuber and Johan Passler, both biathlon world champions, were born here. The valley is also a paradise for mountain bikers who usually complete the famous Vedrette di Ries tour (or Klammlrunde) leading to Defereggen in East Tyrol.
