Vila di Sopra, the second largest village of the municipality of Perca, is home to about 300 inhabitants. Its centre at 1,350 m a.s.l. north of the municipality's main village in the wonderful Val di Vila is characterised by its Gothic church. Around the church you can admire some buildings and steep, verdant meadows. The Croda Nera (3,105 m a.s.l.) rises at the head of the valley.
Vila di Sopra is a well-known starting point for hikes and excursions in the Vedrette di Ries - Aurina nature park and for a relaxing walk to the famous earth pyramids of Plata. This impressive natural phenomenon is reachable in a 45-minute walk along the Pyramidenweg. As you cannot park your car directly at the pyramids we recommend leaving it on the signposted parking spaces.
History lovers should not miss a visit to the Lerchenkapelle at the entrance of the village. This chapel from 1673 hosts precious grotesque decoration.
