Montevila

Montevila is located on a sun-drenched mountain slope and is considered the most ancient village of Perca

Montevila has got some 50 inhabitants and stretches on an eastern sunny mountain slope. Montevila is located at the entrance of the Val di Vila, stretching into the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina nature park.

Early in history has this village been settled, originally it used to be called “locus Welinberg“, representing in fact the first settlement in the municipal area. Also the little church of Montevila dates back to the 11th century, today only the murals of the nave are preserved. Up to the 70s, Montevila only consisted of a series of farms, in the meantime new buildings have characterized the village. There is by the way also a herb farm in the village.

Our tip: a hike to the Rif. Gönner, which can be reached in a pleasant hiking tour, best in summertime. Starting point is the parking space underneath the Höllerhof farm in Vila di Sopra, the alpine pasture can be reached in about 1.5 hours.
