Tesido is surrounded by verdant pastures, such as the Alpe di Tesido, which are perfect for wonderful walks
Tesido has about 1,260 inhabitants and extends at an altitude of 1,200 m a.s.l. on a sunny natural terrace. The village is embedded among verdant meadows which are ideal for unforgettable walks with a stunning view of the Dolomites. Several destinations in Val Pusteria as well as the beautiful valley bottom of Casies are accessible in no time.
Tesido features numerous historical buildings: the S. Giorgio church dating to 800 AD is the most ancient church of the parish. Originally built as a defensive fortress and place of worship, it was rebuilt in 1450. Its rectangular layout and semicircular apse survive from the reconstruction. Art lovers will appreciate the wonderful artworks by the two late-Gothic artists Simon von Taisten and Leonhard von Brixen. We recommend visiting also the church dedicated to the Saints Genuino and Albuino which houses decorations by Simon von Taisten born in Tesido.
"Naturally healthy" is the motto of the circular Kneipp trail "Rudlbach" in Tesido which is also complete with installations where you can relax. A hike to Malga di Tesido and to Monte Lutto or Roda di Scandole are a must during your stay in Tesido. Cycling enthusiasts can undertake a tour along the Talblickweg or the Val Pusteria cycle path.
In winter you can have fun on the more than 40 km of cross-country ski tracks as well as the small ski slope in the village or the 105 km of ski slopes of Plan de Corones. A luge track awaits you near Malga Mudler.
