Vandoies di Sotto, the administrative centre of the municipality at 750 m a.s.l., has approximately 700 inhabitants. The villages of Vandoies di Sotto and Vandoies di Sopra were probably separated in former times when the village of Vandoies di Sopra still belonged to the jurisdictional area of Brunico and Vandoies di Sotto was in the hands of the prince bishops of Bressanone.
In 2003 Vandoies was elected a child-friendly municipality thanks to its extensive recreational area in nature with a large playground for children. The PusterBike cycle path connects Vandoies to the other localities of the Val Pusteria. The cycle route ends in Lienz, from where you can take the train of the Val Pusteria back to Vandoies.
The valle di Fundres with its traditional mountain huts and steep peaks is a true hiking paradise. We highly recommend a tour from Terento to the Cima di Terento. End your day in Vandoies where you can watch films at the open-air cinema, attend circus shows by the Circomix group and enjoy theatre performances.
