Pustertal Toblach Dobbiaco

Dobbiaco village

The Dolomiti Balloon Festival, Lake Dobbiaco and the adventure park of are only some of the attractions you shouldn’t miss in Dobbiaco

The famous composer Gustav Mahler already appreciated the stunning natural landscape of this area where he used to spend his summer holidays from 1908 to 1910. During his stays in his lodge in Dobbiaco near the nature park, he composed the 9th and 10th symphony, as well as the Song of the Earth.

Dobbiaco is subdivided into the parts of Dobbiaco Nuova and Dobbiaco Vecchia. The cultural centre Grand Hotel hosts different events and conferences. The village is also a sports paradise: in winter, cross-country skiers train along the cross-country ski tracks of the modern Nordic Arena, where the famous Pustertaler Skimarathon race starts. Cyclists can cycle along the former railway line in the Val di Landro or cover the Pusterbike cycle path to Lienz.

The Dolomiti Superbike race, one of the hardest MTB races in the Alps, is a highlight for ambitious mountain bikers. The climbing hall in Dobbiaco, as well as the climbing and adventures park of the area are perfect training sites for climbers. Mountain tours along the Bonner Höhenweg high-altitude path and to the Corno di Fana are highly recomended as well. Those who prefer more relaxing activities can undertake a walk along the most ancient via crucis of Tyrol or around Lake Dobbiaco.

Tip: during the Dolomiti Balloon Festival in January you can take part in a hot air balloon flight above the rooftops of Dobbiaco.
