Are you riding your bike and wondering how to get away from the imminent thunderstorm? Or maybe you are exhausted and struggling to return to your hotel room? Or maybe you would like to undertake a high altitude tour without having to worry about your car? The trains of the Val Pusteria will meet your needs for sure. Since 2008 the train on the section Brunico and Fortezza run every 30 minutes and those between Brunico and Alta Pusteria run once an hour. The recently renovated train stations of the Val Pusteria allow passengers to get on and off the trains with their bikes which can be left in the designated areas in the coaches.
A daily ticket for your bike costs only 7 euros and can be purchased at the ticket offices or at the vending machines in the train stations. For the section Lienz-San Candido transport requirements for bikes vary according to the season. The "Rad & Person" (bike and passenger) ticket for this section can be purchased at the train station of Lienz.
The offer "Bike & Bahn" (bike and train) is highly appreciated during the summer months. Please note: bikes are not admitted in overcrowded trains, however a Bikeshuttle service is available. On August weekends the trains between Brunico and San Candido run more frequently.
