Braies di Fuori

Braies di Fuori branches off at Segheria in south-eastern direction. The whole year round, Prato Piazza is the main attraction

At Segheria, the Valle di Braies splits in two parts, on the left and in south-east direction, a road leads to Braies Vecchia, which also stretches to Ponticello and further on to Prato Piazza. This is also where you can find the Bagni di Braies Vecchia (Baths of Braies Vecchia). The waters of this spring were considered to have healed a wounded deer, for this reason the spring was called “deer spring”.

Beside the Lago di Braies, the Prato Piazza is considered the natural jewel of the municipality. This high-altitude plateau in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park is surrounded by a fabulous world of mountains, including the Picco di Vallandro, the Croda Rossa, the Tofane and the Cristallo massif. Those who love photographing nature are going to find interesting motifs the whole year round.

In winter, Prato Piazza offers a high-altitude cross-country ski trail, which is also used by national cross-country ski teams. However, this high plateau is ideal for a pleasant walk, surrounded by a great mountain landscape. Those who love mountaineering can scale the Picco di Vallandro, a classic Dolomite mountain, ideal also to watch the sunrise. Those who love alpine skiing can find ski lifts in Braies Vecchia, a tip for a snow-shoe tour is the Monte Specie.
