Lappago

Lappago is located at the head of the Valle di Selva. The Lago di Lappago is starting point for mountain tours in the Zillertal Alps.

Lappago is located at 1,436 m asl at the head of the Valle di Selva and has got 160 inhabitants. At the head of the valley, there is the Lago di Neves, an artificial lake, surrounded by three famous mountains: Punta Bianca, Gran Mesule and Cima di Campo. The lake can be surrounded on foot in summer months, in winter the narrow mountain road leading up to the lake is closed.

Lago di Neves is by the way a good starting point for several hiking tours, such as to the Rif. Porro and the Rif. Ponte di Ghiaccio, two mountain huts that are connected by the Alta Via di Neves high path, a recommendable round tour for mountaineers with kilter.

If you prefer more comfortable walks, choose one of the four theme paths of the valley, such as the one across the wild-romantic gorge of Lappago, dedicated to the “power of water. In general, water is omnipresent in the village of Lappago, since June 2010 there is also a small museum that is dedicated to this precious good.

Lappago is also very snow-sure, already in early winter, the landscape shows its fairytale side of a winter wonderland, which lasts until spring. For this reason it is a good place for ski tours, especially for spring tours. Moreover it offers cross-country ski slopes between Lappago and Selva dei Molini, surrounded by a fabulous winter scenery and the mountains of the Zillertal Alps.
