The valle di Selva dei Molini branches off west from the Valle Aurina near Molini di Tures. This traditional mountain valley counts 1,500 inhabitants and is characterised by several mills, sawmills, as well as mountain brooks descending from the Zillertal Alps and flowing through the entire valley.
In this valley water is crucial. In fact, several theme paths with the motto "the power of water" were dedicated to this essential good. Many hikes running across the valley pass the Selva lake, old mills and even moorlands. Otherwise you can visit a wonderful waterfall or walk to the artificial Selva dei Molini lake which is also a perfect starting point for several hikes in the surrounding mountains, as well as the bottom of the valley. The lake is surrounded by an easy path.
Interesting: after having been the venue for the German reality show "Die Alm", which was first broadcasted in 2011, the area gained huge popularity.
