The village of Nessano at 1,000 m a.s.l. has about 110 inhabitants and is heavily influenced by agriculture. Nessano belongs to the municipality of Perca and sits in the northern part of the Val Pusteria, east of the administrative centre of the municipality. The hamlet of Sopranessano at 1,300 m a.s.l. is accessible from Nessano.
The church of Nessano near the village centre dates back to 1474. This religious monument was built in Gothic style and consecrated to St. James. It was decorated with the crests of the Habsburgs, of Wolkenstein and of Tyrol. On its external faҫade you can admire a painting of St. Christopher by Simon von Taisten.
