San Candido is the administrative centre of the eponymous municipality and was first mentioned in written documents around 769. It is situated at an altitude of 1,175 m a.s.l. and has about 2,100 inhabitants. Here, you can either relax or discover the culture and natural landscape of the area, for example by visiting the Dolomythos museum, dedicated to the formation of the world-famous Dolomites, or the Monastery Museum of San Candido featuring 7 culturally and historically interesting exhibition halls.
The Acquafun swimming pool is perfect for a fun day in the water. If you like to walk in nature, you can undertake a hike to the farms of Monte San Candido or a tour to rif. Baranci. In the 19th century San Candido was famous for its thermal centre Bagni di San Candido.
Winter sports lovers will enjoy the 93 km of perfectly prepared ski slopes of the Tre Cime Dolomiti skiing area in the Sesto Dolomites, on Monte Baranci and Monte Elmo.
