Cross-country skiing is considered a full-body workout as it involves your leg, arm, shoulder, back and abdominal muscles and can be practised at all ages. Delve into the fantastic world of this sport and discover it in all its beauty in the numerous cross-country skiing centres of the Val Pusteria where you can attend different courses to learn this sport.
The Riva di Tures cross-country ski centre offers excellent conditions for cross-country skiing. Its 15 km long trails extend on an altitude between 1,536 and 1,591 m a.s.l. and are suitable for both classic and skating technique and feature various difficulty levels. The centre is also complete with a rental service and organises cross-country skiing courses for athletes of all levels which are held by certified instructors.
The Alta Badia - Armentarola cross-country ski centre at the feet of Conturines, Lavarella and Settsass in the village of Saré/Armentarola near San Cassiano features 27 km of cross-country ski tracks. The centre provides a ski school, rental service, toilets, changing rooms and a restaurant and bar where warm dishes are available all day long. The trails include a training route (yellow markers) and tracks of various difficulty levels (Sass Dlacia, Sarè, Pinais and Pre de Costa. The Störes and Conturines trails are reserved for competitions.
The Nordic Arena Dobbiaco in Dobbiacco Nuova provides tracks with an overall length of 120 km. It features information desks, public toilets, changing rooms, a medical centre, a gym for athletes and a restaurant with bar. The rental service offers skiing equipment in winter and bikes in summer. This stadium hosts several international competitions and is an ideal starting point for organised cross-country ski excursions in the surroundings.
The cross-country and biathlon centre Anterselva offers tracks for all levels. The "Talloipe" trail starts at the Anterselva lake and winds across an unspoilt natural landscape to the entrance of the valley. Besides organising cross-country skiing and biathlon courses, this centre also features a ski rental and service and different restaurants. On the passo Stalle at an altitude of 2,000 m a.s.l. extends an 8 km long cross-country ski track.
