Fishing

A wide variety of waters are ideal for fishing in the Val Pusteria valley. We wish you a pleasant day on the lakeside or riversides and good fishing

Some consider it a sport, some simply a past-time, in any case fishing is a relaxing leisure activity. Either mountain lakes or rivers, the Val Pusteria provides various waters where to spend relaxing fishing afternoons, making this past-time an exclusive adventure. A little camp-chair, the right bait, the ideal angle and last but not least, a valid license, and there you go. Not for nothing fishing is a very popular past-time, in the whole world.

The mountain rivers, streams and mountain lakes of South Tyrol belong to the salmonid waters. The main fish species in mountain lakes are river trout, while in main streams such as the Rienza and the Isarco the marbled trout prevail. However, in the last years the fish stock decreased in favour of other species that were fielded.

Please note that you need to stick to the local fishing rules. Vacationists need to purchase a valid fishing license in one of the tourist offices. Please inform yourselves in advance, which license is needed for which waters. We wish you a pleasant stay and a good catch in Val Pusteria.
