Tradition & culture

Sacred Heart Fires, transhumances, local traditions… discover Val Pusteria’s customs in all their facets

The inhabitants of the Val Pusteria are fully committed to promoting and protecting the ancient traditions of the valley. These customs are reenacted and celebrated on several occasions, especially during feasts and events taking place every year in different villages and cities of the valley.

The locals attending or getting involved in religious feasts wear the typical Pusterer Tracht and prepare exquisite local delicacies. Children and adolescents actively engage in the organisation of such events and feasts to ensure that the valley's traditions don't end up on the scrap heap. The most culturally rich areas are definitely the Valle Aurina and the Val Badia. If you are looking forward to finding out more about this topic we recommend reading the articles of this section.
