The village of Montassilone above Villa Ottone at 1,485 m a.s.l. is accessible via Vila di Sopra near Perca. These two villages are crossed during the Giro di Montassilone, a MTB tour you shouldn't miss.

Montassilone with its 20 inhabitants is a quiet natural oasis. One of the main attractions of the locality are the farms with connected hip roofs, as well as the small, late-Gothic S. Chrysant and S. Daria church. Since 1928, Montassilone has been part of the municipality of Gais.

The village of Montassilone is definitely worth a visit. Hikers should undertake a tour to malga Tesselberger Alm or to the Geige peak, which is reachable on skis as well. If you prefer descents, we recommend visiting the Chela Castle in Gais which is reachable by crossing the valle Bärental.
