The village of Issengo at 986 m a.s.l. is a hamlet of the municipality of Falzes and home to 260 inhabitants. Together with the hamlets of Corti and Falzes, Issengo is situated on a sunny high plateau overlooking the Val Pusteria. The locality was first mentioned in written documents in 1100 as Issigun. The parish church was built in 1519 and is consecrated to St. Nicolò. Schöneck Castle, the birthplace of the Minnesänger Oswald von Wolkenstein (*1377) is also worth a visit.
Issengo is a true paradise for several leisure activities. In summer, locals and tourists have a refreshing swim in Lake Issengo. This stunning body of water is one of the last biotopes of South Tyrol. Near the lake lie a playground for children, as well as the Kronaction high rope park with its 8 courses suitable for climbers of all levels and age groups.
We highly recommend a visit to the pine oil distillery with its herbs garden "Bergila". The organically cultivated herbs are collected and made into high-end natural products.
> Tip: Issengo and its surroundings feature an extensive network of rather easy hiking paths offering stunning panoramic views of the Val Pusteria.
