Teodone

Teodone is located in the valley basin of Brunico, its gem is the Provincial Folklore Museum

Teodone, the village of noble residences, is located in the north east of Brunico and located at 865 m a.s.l. and has got about 750 inhabitants. On the one hand it is located only a stone's throw from the city centre, while on the other hand it is able to offer relaxation in the heart of nature. Teodone is situated in the wide valley basin of Brunico, in which the Valle di Tures as well as the upper and lower Val Pusteria join. The village itself stretches on a slope that is slightly inclined. The village was by the way mentioned for the first time around 1,000.

Already from afar you can see the mighty facade of the Mair am Hof residence, hosting the Provincial Folklore Museum, which according to the German ADAC leisure time guide is one of the most beautiful open air museum of Europe. In its open air space, there are a dozen farmsteads and agricultural facilities, as well as pets and livestock.

By the way: the Mair am Hof residence used to be the summer resort of the English couple of authors Mary and William Howitt, who found inspiration in the village of Teodone.

Our tip: a cycling tour from Teodone to Campo Tures, where you can find refreshment in the natural bathing pond.
