Stegona

The famous market of Stegona attracts numerous visitors every year

Stegona is known for being a suburb of the city of Brunico lying to its west. The village of Stegona is an ancient settlement of Roman origins and was first mentioned in a donation document from 1,000 AD in favour of the bishop Albuin.

The locality of Stegona is a highly appreciated holiday destination thanks to its proximity to the city of Brunico which can easily be reached on foot. We recommend undertaking a walk to the village of Grimaldo leading past the Monte di Stegona. Those who prefer to stay in Stegona can cover the path flanking the Rienza stream. Cyclists will enjoy the cycle paths of Tures and the Val Pusteria. One of the locality's main attractions is the Gothic St. Nicholas church.

Every year in October Stegona hosts the well-known market of Stegona, the biggest market of Tyrol. It attracts several visitors from the Val Pusteria, East Tyrol and North Tyrol. Those who are looking for discounts should not do without a visit to this beautiful market.
