The Gitschberg-Jochtal skiing area includes two distinct ski resorts connected by the Glasboden cable car

PLEASE NOTE: THE GITSCHBERG - JOCHTAL SKIING AREA IS CURRENTLY CLOSED AND REOPENS FOR THE 2026/27 WINTER SEASON.

The skiing areas Gitschberg and Jochtal are two distinct ski regions which are connected by cable car. Together they feature 15 ski lifts and more than 51 km of ski slopes. They are located in Maranza and Valles respectively and easily accessible from Rio di Pusteria, a village at the entrance to the Val Pusteria.

The skiing area Gitschberg Jochtal is easily reachable thanks to 6 cable cars, 3 chairlifts and 6 ski tows. This area delights you with an all-round view of the surrounding peaks. Here you can have fun on more than 50 km of slopes, many of which are sufficiently large to be suitable for beginners too. It is possible to take skiing and snowboarding lessons on site.

Along the ski slopes you can take a break and taste delicious local food in the several refreshment points. After a long day on the slopes you can wrap it up with a refreshing drink in good company in one of the Après-Ski pubs of the area. The most popular ones are the Mühle pub in Valles and the Schlupfe pub in Maranza.

The Gitschberg-Jochtal skiing region also boasts a sledge run and a Funpark. Thanks to the shuttle service which takes you directly back to the valley station, you never have to worry about finding a parking space for your car.

Cross-country ski track: 4 tracks (Lobenweg-Bacher mountain hut trail, 8 km / Rodengo Luson Alp trail, 15 km / Valles circular trail, 7 km / Fundres valley circular trail, 3 km)

The season ended on 12 April 2026 - the 2026/2027 ski season will start in early December.
