Sorafurcia

Sorafurcia extends on the eastern slope of the Plan de Corones ski slopes

Sorafurcia lies at an altitude of 1,344 m a.s.l. and has about 400 inhabitants. It is the only village on the Plan de Corones slope and its church is dedicated to St. Wolfgang.

From Sorafurcia you can take various ski lifts to Plan de Corones, a renowned hiking and skiing area. The valley station of the ski lifts is situated in Gassl, a small hamlet below Sorafurcia.

In summer Sorafurcia turns into a true hiking paradise. Two famous hikes lead to the rifugio Sorafurcia (2,102 m a.s.l.) and to the Prackenhütte huts. Otherwise you can undertake mountainbike tours to the famous Furcia pass (1,760 m a.s.l.) which was crossed during a stage of the Giro d'Italia on several occasions. By taking path no. 14 you can visit the Bad Bergfall spring. This nitrogen-rich spring has been known since Roman times. Interesting: Sorafurcia is the birthplace of Markus Lanz, a famous TV host.

Our tip: from passo Furcia you can undertake wonderful hikes to Piz da Peres or to Lake Colli Alti.
