The lake of Anterselva, the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina and the Südtirol Arena biathlon centre are the main attractions of Anterselva di Sopra
Anterselva di Sopra at 1,550 m a.s.l. is a scattered farm settlement. This small locality is a true natural gem for sports and nature lovers who can choose between a huge variety of outdoor activities.
One of the main attractions of the area is undoubtedly the lake of Anterselva with its emerald-green water. This body of water can be visited during a relaxing stroll along the Natura path (sentiero Natura, walking time: 1 hour). In summer you can hide from the summer on the shores of the lake which is also a perfect starting point for unforgettable excursions to the forcella Ripa, malga Steinzger and many other destinations in the surrounding mountains. From Anterselva you can reach the popular rifugio Vedrette di Ries hut. The passo Stalle at the end of the valley is a highly appreciated destination for mountainbikers and motorcyclists. Besides connecting the valle Anterselva to the valle Defereggen in East Tyrol, this mountain saddle is also one of the destinations of the famous Klammlrunde, a very well-known mountain bike tour and a perfect starting point for an excursion to the Croda Rossa. The road leading up to passo Stalle is closed during the winter months when it is turned into a sledge run. On the mountain pass you can have fun along the cross-country ski tracks near the lake of Anterselva.
This area is not only known for being a cross-country ski and ski mountaineering paradise, but also for its biathlon centre, the Südtirol Arena in Anterselva di Sopra. This stadium has been hosting numerous Biathlon World Cup races, as well as 6 World Championships. In 2026 the centre will be the scene of the biathlon competitions of the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina. However, the Südtirol Arena also organises biathlon experiences for the general public. The valle di Anterselva is delimited by the impressive Vedrette di Ries peaks which are often pictured.
Relax on the shores of lake Anterselva on a hot summer day and breathe the fresh mountain air.
