The hamlet of Villa S. Caterina north of Brunico is situated at the entrance to the Valle Aurina in the proximity of San Giorgio and Teodone. The village at 840 m a.s.l. is the smallest hamlet of the municipality and was already inhabited in Prehistoric times. Its sunny position makes it a perfect starting points for excursions in nature.
A flint blade was found during works in the garden below the church. The church dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria was built in 1360 and looks back on a century-long history. The wonderful village centre and the impressive natural landscape attract numerous visitors every year.
In Villa S. Caterina you can undertake numerous hikes and walks along the "Durchs Toul" path or the field path to Gais. From San Giorgio you can reach Grimaldo, a village which is directly connected to the cycle path of the Valle Aurina. Passionate climbers will enjoy the rock wall near the Aufhofer Kofel hill.
