Teodone in the valley basin of Brunico is the seat of the South Tyrolean Folklore Museum
The village of Teodone at 865 m a.s.l. north-east of Brunico, is home to about 750 people and boasts different noble residences. Teodone is situated in a large valley basin formed by the Alta Pusteria, the Bassa Pusteria and the Valle Aurina. This village near Brunico lies on a rather steep slope in a wonderful natural landscape. It was first mentioned in written documents around 1,000 AD.
The well-visible Mair am Hof residence is part of the South Tyrolean Folklore museum, which was named as one of the most beautiful outdoor museums of Europe by the ADAC guide. The residence houses different folklore collections. In the external area you can visit several farms and agricultural buildings and observe the animals living there.
Interesting: from 1871 to 1879 the British writer couple Mary and William Howitt used to spend its summers in the Mair am Hof residence.
We highly recommend a bike tour from Teodone to Campo Tures, where you can have a refreshing swim in the natural pond before returning to Teodone.
