Drava Cycle Path from San Candido to Lienz

The Drava cycle path between San Candido and Lienz is the continuation of the Pusterbike cycle route

The Drava cycle path starts in San Candido in South Tyrol (Italy) and leads to Lienz in East Tyrol (Austria). The cycle path runs mainly downhill and is therefore particularly suitable for families. Once in Lienz, we recommend visiting the historic centre of the city and taking the train back to San Candido.

Starting in San Candido, the path arrives in Versciaco and Prato alla Drava thanks to some secondary roads. After crossing the border between Italy and Austria, it proceeds to
Sillian and runs along the Loacker wafer production company in Heinfels, which can be visited. At the edge of the village lies the Wichtel Adventure Park.

The cycle path along the Drava river crosses the villages of Strassen and Abfaltersbach. Here, the large valley narrows and the path starts do descend. The villages of Mittewald and Thal-Aue, as well as the water park Galitzenklamm are located along the way before the area of Lienz.

Please note: the Drava cycle path doesn't end in Lienz. In fact, it continues towards Kärnten and Slovenia. On your return you can take the OEBB train (limited designated areas for bikes) from Lienz to San Candido.
