The Drava cycle path from San Candido to Lienz continues across Kärnten and ends in Maribor, in Slovenia
Image gallery: Drava Cycle Path from Lienz to Villach
The 750-km long Drava cycle path from Lienz to Kärnten has only a slight difference in altitude. The section between Peggetz near Lienz and the border between Tyrol and Kärnten near Unterpirkach parallels the Drava river, as well as the railway line. The route runs along well-maintained asphalt and gravel paths.
Between Unterpirkach and Oberdrauburg and from Feistritz to Spittal an der Drau the cycle path runs along secondary roads with the marker "Radroute R1". The section before Villach flanks the banks of the Drava river.
The pictures in the photo gallery describe the cycle path from Lienz to Oberdrauberg near the border to Kärnten. This very easy path is particularly suitable for families with children as it is almost traffic free. Those who would like to lengthen their excursion can do so by reaching the lakes Kärntner Seen and Maribor in Slovenia. The landscape is simply amazing!
